”THE THEORY OF EVERYTHING”
“A romantic film that tells the story of the life of the world-famous theoretical phy- sicist Stephen Hawking, diagnosed with motor neuron disease at university. An astonishing performance by Eddie Redmayne (winner of the Oscar), if possible surpassed by the beautifully nuanced acting of Felicity Jones, as the woman who makes her husband’s life liveable and his work possible. The title refers to the effort to discover a single unifying principle in the forces of the universe, but the film focu- ses on the spiritual strength and, eventually, irresolvable problems of Hawking and his wife (unrelated to his disease). A film in which love conquers all? Not quite. But even where there is failure, the film discovers great strength and hope”. (Marcus Perryman)
