RELATION OF FILM “INVICTUS”
The day 14th February of 2017 all the final classes attending Fincato Rosani school went to the cinema Aurora in Verona to watch the film “INVICTUS”.
That film speaks about the story of Nelson Mandela when he was president. It was directed by Clint Eastwood and the main actors are Morgan Freeman playing the role of Nelson Mandela and Matt Damon in the role of Francois Pienaar (the captain of the Sprinboks team). The movie speaks about the apartheid in South Africa and it wants to focus on when black people were divided from white people because of discrimination. For this reason Mandela wanted to create the“RAINBOW NATION”which stands for the unity of black and white people.
The film deals with the story of the Sprinboks team: they fight to win the world championship of rugby, but not only, the movie shifts to another level of investigation: rugby stands for political committment and therefore Mandela wants it to represent all the South African people and wants the team to continue to play instead of its dramatic beginning.
For black people the Sprinboks was the symbol of the apartheid and they even wanted to change their name, their official t-shirt and their logo, but the president opposed the black population of South Africa and he said to them the Sprinboks might win the world championship of rugby and people should recognize themselves in it.
Infact they won match after match up to the final against the strongest team: the All Black. In the end they won and all black people believed in Mandela, and returned to be fans of the true team of South Africa: THE SPRINBOKS.
We thank all the teachers that took us to the cinema among which our teacher Casella and teacher Galletta.
